Cutie Patootie Birthday News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

What a whirlwind weekend!  Marisol and I survived our first sleepover at the cottage with six, 9 - 10 yr. old girls and pampered eleven, 9 - 12 yr. old girls with a spa experience they will remember for quite some time.  Continue reading below, we hope you enjoy our escapade as much as we did.

Birthday Parties

On Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m. six girls walked into the cottage, sleeping bags in hand, to help celebrate "R's" 10th birthday with a "Blue Piggie"party (she loves pigs and her favorite color is blue). Unsure of what she would expect, one guest exclaimed,  "wow, I thought we were going to a log cabin in the woods", as she threw her sleeping bag to the side and took in the ambiance of Cutie Patootie.   In the Ashiana, our larger room, we set up three tables: a candy and cookie bar, a beautifully decorated dinner table and an arts and crafts table (each girl used fabric spray and stencils to decorate a t-shirt). In our smaller room, the Skyler, we set up blow-up sleep mats and our projector to watch the birthday girls requested movie "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure".  After arts & crafts, eating, singing happy birthday, dancing, mini-mani's, mini-pedi's, filling candy bags and watching a movie, the activities director and I decided that we would go to bed (12 a.m.), leaving Marisol and the birthday girls mom up with the girls .

At about 3 a.m., I was awakened by Marisol because the girls wanted to hear a ghost story.  Using the pre-concieved notion about our cottage from our guest above, I told a true sleep away camp story - (o.k., it wasn't true).  Sitting on the floor at the edge of their sleeping bags, pink flashlight under my chin, I began my story which contained an old man named Mr. Whimple who didn't have a tongue, two dogs, two badly burned bald brothers and lots of running in the woods. I had to stop before my conclusion because the girls were too afraid for me to continue - "Please stop, Mrs. Karen, we don't want to hear anymore, let's watch another movie".  Out the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of my partner looking at me as if to say - " did this really happen??" It took everything in me not to burst into laughter and give myself away.  Within minutes of the start of the next movie, we had six sleeping girls and one uncomfortable birthday mom as all the girls made sure they could touch a part of her as they slept.

At 7:30 a.m., our director of activities and I awakened the girls with a whistle, the beating of a drum and a song we created just for the birthday girl - "Happy birthday "R" now that you are 10, we hope that when you leave us, you'll visit us again!  The girls arose, brushed their teeth and sat around the table for breakfast.  Within minutes the pleading began - Can you please finish your story?  Well, the story basically ended with the two burned bald brothers thanking me for talking with them.  They had moved to the woods from the big city because they were different and had no friends.  I asked, "what was the moral of the story"? Each girl eagerly raised her hand and I chose one - "Never judge a book by it's cover"  - Yes, lesson taught! We were soo proud of these girls!

At 12 p.m., May 28 (yes, three hours later), Marisol and I welcomed our 9 yr. old birthday girl "S" and ten of her friends to an amazing Spa party.  "S" and her mom chose three stations - aromatherapy, mini-pedi's and facials.  With relaxing music from the Orient playing in the background, the girls were asked to remove their shoes and each were dressed in a Cutie Patootie spa robe and terrycloth headband.   Using voices just above a whisper, the girls were escorted to the Ashiana room where our activities director was awaiting their arrival.  Each girl adorned an eye mask and lay down on one of eleven pillowed mats that were arranged in the room.  Just listening to the mellow tone of Mrs. Morcia and taking in the scents and the music was enough to fully relax the most fidgety guest - Namaste lol.

When the aromatherapy session was complete, the girls were separated into two groups to enjoy the next session.  One group visited the facials station and the others went in to enjoy a mini-pedi.  Once complete, everyone sat down for lunch and happy birthday cupcake conversation.  Each girl spoke of her first session experience and eagerly awaited the time to switch.

It is such a pleasure to give girls an opportunity to experience something new, something good, something exciting.  Marisol and I work very hard to ensure that your girls walk away with a memory that they will cherish forever - we know that each guest of honor and her attendees have given us a piece of them that we will remember for years to come.

Cutie Patootie News: We're Baaaaaaaaaack

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers:

We've missed you ohhh soo much!!  Marisol and I have been very busy crowning new Cutie Patooties every weekend!! Since our last post, we've had birthday parties, play dates, graduation parties, prom parties, public appearances (Kidzrock at the Roof Top, Rockville, MD) and even sent our Princess and Fairy into the crowds during the Olney Days parade to hand out balloons and lollipops.  They had soo much fun!

Take a look into two of our recent birthdays below:

Birthday Party News

On April 30th, we celebrated "S" 8th birthday with a Rock Star Party.  With 16 guests in tow, our birthday girl arrived and each was made into a Rock Star ready for the Paparazzi.  My partner and I applied light glitter make up and adorned them with sequined bedazzled hats, sunglasses and fishnet gloves.  Once dressed, the girls entered the Ashiana room and were amazed to see the stage, imaginary instruments (rock star guitars, saxophones, congo drums & microphones) and Karaoke machine. The girls immediately created their groups and performed the hottest hits for their audience. Every girl can be a Rock Star, she just needs the right props ;o)

On May 6th, we celebrated a "double" birthday party  - no, they were not twins!  These girls shared the same birthday and were in the same class.  The moms decided to double the fun and what fun we had!  The girls chose the Enchanted Fairy Party and invited fourteen of their friends to join them.  After arriving, each girl was dressed in their beautiful fairy costume and lined up to proceed outside for our infamous "Cutie Patootie Parade".  With wands in hand, our fairies proceeded out towards Georgia Avenue and were greeted by waving passerby's and honking cars wishing them well.  Once inside, our fairies worked on their craft, ate chicken tenders and french fries and sang happy birthday twice for each of their friends.  Both girls loved horses so my partner and I found two autograph horses for their friends to sign before they left.  Each birthday girl made sure to tell us that "this" was the best birthday they will ever have! *melting heart*

Play Dates

So many of our moms are taking advantage of our play dates during the week.  Gather up your daughter and/or son and a few of their playmates for forty-five minutes of fun.  Contact Marisol at 240 342-2570 or 301 674-2643 for additional details.

Mommy & Me

Come visit Miz T at the cottage tomorrow (5/26) from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for a time of shaking the ‘silly willies’ out! A fun filled time of silliness with puppets, music, stories and a take home craft. Oh...don’t forget to bring lots of giggles! See you there. Program targets boys and girls ages 2-5. Fee is $6/child - includes entertainment and snack.  Adults are free!

Cupcake Fridays

Much to the dismay of our Olney neighbors, we've had to put Cupcake Fridays on hold (for just a few weeks) to accommodate our graduates who wished to reserve Fridays for their graduation and prom parties.  We will resume our cupcake sales June 10, 2011 (10:30 - 1 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.)

Well, it felt good writing to bring you up to date!
