Making Memories at Cutie Patootie Birthdays & Such

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers:

Tomorrow we will welcome fifteen daisies and brownies from Olney Elementary school to our cottage for a tea party to receive their tea party patch.  The tea party patch is given to girl scouts after they have participated in a tea party while learning tea party etiquette.  How fun will this be!!  We are so excited that we were asked to be a part of this momentous milestone in their girl scout journey.  The lessons one learns during a tea party can be used throughout life - dressing in your prettiest dress, speaking with inside voices, no slurping, no stuffing your mouth with food, using your manners at all times - We can't wait!

On Saturday, we held a surprise 30th birthday celebration for six guests.  CHANEL was the theme and the black and white tablescape turned out amazing.  How nice it was for the birthday girl to be greeted by five of her closest friends - she was speechless.  Food was amazing, venue was beautiful and company was priceless.

Thank you for making Cutie Patootie a part of your memories!

Until we post again

"Mommy and Me": Who wants to Hula?

Aloha Cutie Patootie Followers:

It is 12:26 a.m. and Marisol and I are sitting in the dark listening to the humming of her generator in the background.  The snow unfortunately canceled our last Mommy and Me activity so we decided to bring some sunshine to the DC metropolitan area - Hula Dancing for EVERYONE!

On February 2, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Kinikia, dressed in a traditional ti leaf skirt "Lilo & Stitch" style, will visit our little cottage in Olney to perform the "Aloha", a Hawaiiana Luau show for children. The show will include a Polynesian Luau-demonstration of Hawaiian Hula dances involving storytelling with hands -  a'auna style, dance and instruments.

Kinikia will also demonstrate a Maori poi dance from New Zealand and an Aparima - a storytelling lyrical dance from Tahiti where the hips match the beat of the drums. Please note that audience participation will be encouraged so get ready to shake those hips moms ;o).

As always, our Mommy Cafe and snacks for your little ones will be available.  Please reserve your space by calling 301 674-2643 or 301 440-0597 as space is limited. The $20 price will cover (adult/child), entertainment and refreshments. Additional adult is $10 and additional child $8.

We hope to see you there!

Aloha until we post again,
Karen and Marisol

Our First "Mommy & Me" Activity

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

Today we hosted our very first "Mommy & Me" activity with Pam the Kindersinger and her sidekick Rascal.  What a joy it was to see the faces of our tiniest guests light up when Rascal the chipmunk began to interact with them.  With juice boxes, graham crackers and muffins in hand, little feet began to move to the music while singing to tunes created by Pam herself.  Moms had a great time catching up with one another in our "Mommy Cafe" while taking a much needed breather.

Our next activity will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 10:30 a.m.  - 11:30 a.m. with Uncle Pete:

Cutie Patootie Grand Opening Was A Success!!!!!

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

I would first like to thank those of you visited our little cottage during our open house.  My partner Marisol and I greeted 115 adult guests and more importantly 55 girls (babies, little girls, tweens and teens).  Each of them so eager to listen to our spiel of what we had to offer - the various themes, the possible upgrades, weekly activities etc. - some even visited with us a second time with friends!  Secondly, Marisol and I would like to thank our Exclusive Baker - Whitnee Steele of Cakes to Crumbs bakery.  With three small children in tow, she baked, decorated and delivered all of the yummy cupcakes and cookies for each of our guests to sample - GO MOM-PRENEURS!  She is truly our gift from God!

Well, Cutie Patootie Birthdays & Such is now open for business.  Beginning this Wednesday, January 19, 2011, we will host our first Mommy and Me activity.  Mommy and Me activities are open to girls and boys and will be scheduled on our website calendar one month in advance. Because space is limited, advance scheduling is required to secure your space (301 674-2643).  The introductory price is $20/parent & child which will cover the cost of the entertainment, snack for the little one and "Mommy Cafe"  however, parents are welcome to sit with their child during the entertainment.  (Additional child is $8).

Comcast Finally Arrived!

Hello Cutie Patootie followers,

Well, after waiting one whole month, COMCAST finally arrived to install our telephone and internet service - Yahooo!  We now have a telephone number 240 342-2570 (which will not be in service until next week lol - We have to laugh).  Beginning January 19th,  mom's will be able to use our Wi-Fi service in our "Mommy Cafe" as they wait for their little ones to complete their activities!  I can already see the mommy friendships established as a result - so I guess we should say "thank you" to  Comcast.  On our list of weekly entertainment we have: Pam the Kindersinger, Uncle Pete and the Great Zucchini!  We have decided to have one entertainer per week right now until we've had an opportunity to meet a few of them and view their work - can you imagine the amount of songs we are about to learn?  We are soo excited and just thinking about the joy others will experience makes our hearts warm and fuzzy. We were placed in this position for a reason and others will see for themselves what we have to offer.

Good night world!
Until tomorrow

One Week and Counting...

Well, today marks our "one week left" day!  We have one week left to do all of our last minute running around!  Chandeliers are on their way, bathroom will be painted today, kids need costumes for spring play,  cheerleading competition coming up (oh wait, my mind just jumped into the mommy room, back to the Cutie Patootie room). With everything still looking a bit undone, my partner Marisol and I have EVERYTHING under control.  What we have done in the last week couldn't be done by the most professional of professionals - MOMS ROCK!  Believe it or not, our doors haven't opened yet and we have secured four additional parties in the Olney area!  This is just a testament of how much something like this was needed.  We are truly blessed and will continue to run to God to renew our strength. This venture is a great experience for not only us but for those who will grace us with their presence.  Make today a great one!

Cutie Patootie Presentation

Today, Marisol and I  presented our baby to the world, our facebook friends and family anyway, Cutie Patootie Birthdays & Such.  Years of dreaming, researching & imagination went into creating a magical, whimsical cottage where giggles of excitement can be bottled in hearts for years to come.  We are so excited to share this experience with you.  Our Open House is scheduled for January 13 - 15, 2011 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  The walls are painted, the floors are sanded and glossed, the tile is laid - just waiting for the sink and toilet lol! This has been an amazing journey and the best is yet to come!  Take a moment out of your busy schedule to ride up Georgia Avenue to visit, we'll be waiting!
