Birthday Party News
This evening we welcomed our newest 8-year-old Cutie Patootie with a Rock Star Party.  The guest of honor arrived early with one of her best friends and proceeded to get "rocked" out with makeup, colored hair extensions and rock star costume accessories.  This duo was sooo shy and we knew bringing the party girls out in one hour and forty-five minutes was going to be an exciting adventure.

Upon the arrival and makeovers of the remaining guests, we began the party transformation by flipping the switch of our karaoke machine.  With parents’ eager to participate, we all sang and danced until it was time to eat and sing happy birthday.  After cupcakes, the games began and boy-oh-boy were they intense.  Shoes were kicked off and I’m sure all pedestrians on Georgia Avenue could hear our screams of laughter.  I asked the birthday girl to describe her party in one word and she said “Exhausting” with the biggest smile on her face!  We second that!

Back to School Pamper Session
It was great meeting with the twelve girls who showed up at the cottage today for our “Back to School Beauty Session”.  Each attendee expressed how nervous they were about starting school. We used each manicure, pedicure and facial to help ease the back to school anxiety our girls were experiencing. Every hand was massaged to increase writing speed and hand-raising speed for answering questions, our pedicure massages would help our girls do well during sports, dance and cheer, while our facial massages were done to get brain cells ready to absorb all the new information they would learn.  Each girl walked out of the cottage confident that “this year” would be a great one – you have to believe it to achieve it!

Cutie Patootie News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

Patootie Play Date
Today we experienced another very beautiful event.  A dad and his almost three year old daughter chose Cutie Patootie for their first date.  The play date, scheduled by the mom, was a complete mystery to our guests who had no idea what we had in store for them.  Upon arrival, our little one immediately climbed onto the spa chair to receive her mini manicure.  Her color choice was purple and she added the teeniest butterflies to further beautify them.  As her nails dried, she listened to the story entitled "Purplicious" while my partner Marisol readied the spa for a little face painting.  With fingernails ready and delicate lavender and white flowers on her face, our little guest of honor was escorted by her dad into the "Skyler"  room where we had an elegant tea table set for them.  Our little guest adorned a tiara and her dad a top hat as they enjoyed  a tea pot filled with apple juice, delicate tea cookies and daddy/daughter "tea-time conversation".
The play date ended with a daddy-daughter dance in the "Ashiana" room to "daddy's little girl".
When these pictures are posted during her wedding in about twenty years, there won't be a dry eye in the house!

Cutie Patootie News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

We hope that everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having.  Just the other day Pepco decided to trim the tree branches away from the power lines in my neighborhood - this instantly brought me back to the many sweltering evenings last summer when the lightning and thunderstorms kept us in the dark for days at time, forcing us to replenish food not once, but three times - Ughhh! Let us all pray for a great, uneventful summer!

Birthday Party News

We welcomed three new Cutie Patooties over the weekend - Two Rock Stars and one Spatootie.

On Friday, June 3rd, thirteen ultimate rockers walked into the cottage ready to celebrate "G's" 9th birthday.  Once dressed in their rock star attire, the girls received rockstar make up and glitter tattoos.     After a few practice runs, the girls were eager to begin their actual performances.  Guests who were considered shy, walked on stage and became the leaders of their groups. The girls were waving their hands and jumping up and down to the beat of the music - we were definitely at a rockstar concert! Each group dedicated their final performance to the birthday girl and as she thanked them all for coming, she stated,  "I'm so lucky to have the best friends a girl could have" - group hug!

On Sat. June 4, eight girls joined "K" for her 9th birthday spa experience.  Upon their arrival, the girls were given warm, rolled towels to cleanse their hands.  A flute of Spatootie Splash (with a cherry, lol) was then distributed to each while we dressed them in their spa attire.  The girls were split into two groups 1) mini-mani's and 2) facials.  In between sessions, while eating, the girls who had facials were very serious, wanting to relay all the information they had learned about why and how you should moisturize and cleanse your face, however, the girls who had mini-mani's just wanted to relay the information they read about Justin Beiber in our spa magazines lol
This is the only party theme where the girls are asked to keep their voices at a minimum to experience a true spa experience - I must say, they DO NOT mind one bit! Whooosahhhhh!

On Sun., June 5th, Cutie Patootie was asked to bring our talents to the new Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring.  Little miss "C" turned ten and her mom and dad invited 35 of her buddies to join her for a Rockstar party.  Live DJ, photographer, sprawling candy bar, sushi, mini sandwiches, cotton candy, family and friends - what more could a girl ask for?  Miss "C" performed a song and dance in front of her audience and even created a raffle to keep her guests engaged.  Our director of activities, Mrs. Morcia, played several games with the guests and our DJ Oliver kept the party swaying!

Thank you for choosing Cutie Patootie to host your special day!

Play Dates

Our play dates are quickly rising in popularity. Bring your daughter in (45 min.) with up to 4 additional friends for a day at the Cutie Patootie Spa.  We also offer story time and arts & crafts. Price includes activity and a light snack upon their departure. Please contact Marisol at 240 342-2570 or 301 674-2643 for further details.

Cupcake Fridays

Remember, Cupcake Friday's is back this week - Friday, June 10th. Cupcakes will only be sold 10:30 - 1p.m. due to a previously scheduled engagement.

Cutie Patootie Birthday News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers,

What a whirlwind weekend!  Marisol and I survived our first sleepover at the cottage with six, 9 - 10 yr. old girls and pampered eleven, 9 - 12 yr. old girls with a spa experience they will remember for quite some time.  Continue reading below, we hope you enjoy our escapade as much as we did.

Birthday Parties

On Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m. six girls walked into the cottage, sleeping bags in hand, to help celebrate "R's" 10th birthday with a "Blue Piggie"party (she loves pigs and her favorite color is blue). Unsure of what she would expect, one guest exclaimed,  "wow, I thought we were going to a log cabin in the woods", as she threw her sleeping bag to the side and took in the ambiance of Cutie Patootie.   In the Ashiana, our larger room, we set up three tables: a candy and cookie bar, a beautifully decorated dinner table and an arts and crafts table (each girl used fabric spray and stencils to decorate a t-shirt). In our smaller room, the Skyler, we set up blow-up sleep mats and our projector to watch the birthday girls requested movie "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure".  After arts & crafts, eating, singing happy birthday, dancing, mini-mani's, mini-pedi's, filling candy bags and watching a movie, the activities director and I decided that we would go to bed (12 a.m.), leaving Marisol and the birthday girls mom up with the girls .

At about 3 a.m., I was awakened by Marisol because the girls wanted to hear a ghost story.  Using the pre-concieved notion about our cottage from our guest above, I told a true sleep away camp story - (o.k., it wasn't true).  Sitting on the floor at the edge of their sleeping bags, pink flashlight under my chin, I began my story which contained an old man named Mr. Whimple who didn't have a tongue, two dogs, two badly burned bald brothers and lots of running in the woods. I had to stop before my conclusion because the girls were too afraid for me to continue - "Please stop, Mrs. Karen, we don't want to hear anymore, let's watch another movie".  Out the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of my partner looking at me as if to say - " did this really happen??" It took everything in me not to burst into laughter and give myself away.  Within minutes of the start of the next movie, we had six sleeping girls and one uncomfortable birthday mom as all the girls made sure they could touch a part of her as they slept.

At 7:30 a.m., our director of activities and I awakened the girls with a whistle, the beating of a drum and a song we created just for the birthday girl - "Happy birthday "R" now that you are 10, we hope that when you leave us, you'll visit us again!  The girls arose, brushed their teeth and sat around the table for breakfast.  Within minutes the pleading began - Can you please finish your story?  Well, the story basically ended with the two burned bald brothers thanking me for talking with them.  They had moved to the woods from the big city because they were different and had no friends.  I asked, "what was the moral of the story"? Each girl eagerly raised her hand and I chose one - "Never judge a book by it's cover"  - Yes, lesson taught! We were soo proud of these girls!

At 12 p.m., May 28 (yes, three hours later), Marisol and I welcomed our 9 yr. old birthday girl "S" and ten of her friends to an amazing Spa party.  "S" and her mom chose three stations - aromatherapy, mini-pedi's and facials.  With relaxing music from the Orient playing in the background, the girls were asked to remove their shoes and each were dressed in a Cutie Patootie spa robe and terrycloth headband.   Using voices just above a whisper, the girls were escorted to the Ashiana room where our activities director was awaiting their arrival.  Each girl adorned an eye mask and lay down on one of eleven pillowed mats that were arranged in the room.  Just listening to the mellow tone of Mrs. Morcia and taking in the scents and the music was enough to fully relax the most fidgety guest - Namaste lol.

When the aromatherapy session was complete, the girls were separated into two groups to enjoy the next session.  One group visited the facials station and the others went in to enjoy a mini-pedi.  Once complete, everyone sat down for lunch and happy birthday cupcake conversation.  Each girl spoke of her first session experience and eagerly awaited the time to switch.

It is such a pleasure to give girls an opportunity to experience something new, something good, something exciting.  Marisol and I work very hard to ensure that your girls walk away with a memory that they will cherish forever - we know that each guest of honor and her attendees have given us a piece of them that we will remember for years to come.

Cutie Patootie News: We're Baaaaaaaaaack

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers:

We've missed you ohhh soo much!!  Marisol and I have been very busy crowning new Cutie Patooties every weekend!! Since our last post, we've had birthday parties, play dates, graduation parties, prom parties, public appearances (Kidzrock at the Roof Top, Rockville, MD) and even sent our Princess and Fairy into the crowds during the Olney Days parade to hand out balloons and lollipops.  They had soo much fun!

Take a look into two of our recent birthdays below:

Birthday Party News

On April 30th, we celebrated "S" 8th birthday with a Rock Star Party.  With 16 guests in tow, our birthday girl arrived and each was made into a Rock Star ready for the Paparazzi.  My partner and I applied light glitter make up and adorned them with sequined bedazzled hats, sunglasses and fishnet gloves.  Once dressed, the girls entered the Ashiana room and were amazed to see the stage, imaginary instruments (rock star guitars, saxophones, congo drums & microphones) and Karaoke machine. The girls immediately created their groups and performed the hottest hits for their audience. Every girl can be a Rock Star, she just needs the right props ;o)

On May 6th, we celebrated a "double" birthday party  - no, they were not twins!  These girls shared the same birthday and were in the same class.  The moms decided to double the fun and what fun we had!  The girls chose the Enchanted Fairy Party and invited fourteen of their friends to join them.  After arriving, each girl was dressed in their beautiful fairy costume and lined up to proceed outside for our infamous "Cutie Patootie Parade".  With wands in hand, our fairies proceeded out towards Georgia Avenue and were greeted by waving passerby's and honking cars wishing them well.  Once inside, our fairies worked on their craft, ate chicken tenders and french fries and sang happy birthday twice for each of their friends.  Both girls loved horses so my partner and I found two autograph horses for their friends to sign before they left.  Each birthday girl made sure to tell us that "this" was the best birthday they will ever have! *melting heart*

So many of our moms are taking advantage of our play dates during the week.  Gather up your daughter and/or son and a few of their playmates for forty-five minutes of fun.  Contact Marisol at 240 342-2570 or 301 674-2643 for additional details.

Cupcake Fridays

Much to the dismay of our Olney neighbors, we've had to put Cupcake Fridays on hold (for just a few weeks) to accommodate our graduates who wished to reserve Fridays for their graduation and prom parties.  We will resume our cupcake sales June 10, 2011 (10:30 - 1 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.)

Well, it felt good writing to bring you up to date!

Cutie Patootie News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers:

We hope everyone enjoyed/survived spring break with their little ones - we are currently on spring break now eeeek!  We're just kidding, we love spring break - getting up early every morning, making kid specific breakfasts (doesn't happen during any other week), and listening to the same two phrases over and over again - What are we doing today? and What are we doing tomorrow? Oh the joys of motherhood!

Birthday Party News

On Saturday, April 23, Cutie Patootie had the pleasure of hosting a Quinceneara (Sweet 15). The 15th birthday is celebrated by girls of  Latin American descent and marks the transition from childhood to womanhood. The birthday girl chose to invite 15 of her closest friends to celebrate her special day.  The party began at 12 p.m. with the arrival of her limousine.  With 16 beautifully packed lunches, the girls, dressed in their dazzling party dresses, climbed into their chariot and were whisked away to explore DC.  With our photographer in tow, the girls were caught laughing, skipping, twirling and jumping - childhood to womanhood, snapping pictures to capture memories.

The girls returned to the cottage at 4 p.m. and were greeted with tall purple-sugar rimmed glasses filled with our birthday girls signature drink - "Nina's Purple Crush" and a beautifully decorated table for a sit down dinner.  After eating, the girls sang happy birthday and were ready to dance the afternoon away.  The live DJ played all of their favorite songs and our activities director kept the girls engaged by playing age appropriate games - I bet you didn't know that 15 year olds could still be entertained at a party lol.  The girls had a great time and my partner and I were so happy that we were chosen to escort this baby girl into the world of womanhood!  What a beautiful day!

Mother & Daughter Tea and Fashion Show

Cutie Patootie was asked to bring our talents to Baltimore for a mother-daughter tea and fashion show.  We are so ready to prepare a beautiful event for the 150 participants.  We'll keep you updated.

Cutie Patootie News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers!

It's been a little while since we've posted but we've been doing lots of Cutesy stuff to get ready for our May Cutie Patooties!

Birthday Party News

On Saturday, April 16th, we celebrated the birthday of a new Cutie Patootie.  The birthday girl turned 9 and selected the DIVA Runway party.  The girls had a blast!  They dressed in their hip Diva wear and walked the runway like seasoned models - something really happens to those girls on that runway (lol).  Our activities director entertained the girls from start to finish.  The girls even chose mini manicures to further Diva-fy (is this a word? lol) themselves.  Each chose two or three colors and asked for either an A,B pattern, an A,BB,A pattern or A, BB, C pattern.  We were totally confused at first but quickly realized that each letter signified a color. We were so proud of them - Not only did they bring math into Cutie Patootie, they brought it in on a SATURDAY!

On Sunday, April 17th, our 5 year old fairy princess arrived to celebrate her birthday. With 7 of her friends in brightly colored tutus and wings,  we began her party by proceeding outside to begin our fairy parade.  Waving fairy wands to say hello to everyone passing on Georgia Avenue, our fairy felt a strong wind and strongly believed her feet left the ground - "I think I flew a little bit" she proclaimed and noticeably lowered her wand for the remainder of the parade for fear of flying away.  The guests ate pizza, sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cupcakes while carrying on "Cupcake Conversation".  The conversations carried on by five year olds are amazing.  What a great time!

Pre-Prom Dinners and Graduation Parties

Are you interested in hosting a pre-prom dinner or graduation party?  Give us a call and we'll put it all together for you.

On Saturday, April 16, we created an off-site Purple and White Extravaganza for three Gonzaga H.S. gentlemen and their beautiful dates.  Thirty minutes before the dates were to arrive one gentleman realized that his dates corsage was on the bed, in his room, thirty minutes away.  My partner and I ran to the closest florist and purchased one just in time for dinner - "Cutie Patootie saves the day".  High school proms are very special -  this one moment creates life long memories - Do you remember your prom?

Next month, my partner and I will host a graduation party for an entire eighth grade class. Which party did they choose? Why Club Patootie of course!!  I just placed the order for glow items sure to make the party a blast -

Thank you for allowing Cutie Patootie to be a part of these life changing experiences!

Mommy and Me

Tomorrow and Thursday (April 20 and April 21), Princess Sarah and Princess Arabelle will visit Cutie Patootie to see their old friends and meet new ones during our Mommy & Me.  Mommy & Me is held every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.  The price is $6/child (no charge for adults).  Child will receive a small snack during the hour of entertainment.  Please call to reserve your space -
240 342-2570.

AND FINALLY...

Cupcake Fridays

Cupcakes are sold every Friday at Cutie Patootie from 10:30 - 1 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.  Now that we have built a fan base, we are now offering individual cupcakes to our friendly neighbors.  A half-dozen  box is $20 and an individual cupcake is $3.50.

Well, it's time for us to sign out - the sound of unattended children is getting louder and louder - lol

Cutie Patootie News

Hello Cutie Patootie Followers:

Play Date/Birthday Party News
On Friday, April 1st, a mom and her six year old daughter arrived at the cottage for a scheduled play date - they couldn't wait until September to have a party ;o) . With seven friends in tow, our little guest prepared themselves for their Pre-Easter play date.  Dressed as fairies, the girls played games, listened to stories, ate cupcakes and dyed Easter eggs.  What fun they had keeping two baby brothers from bouncing and throwing the brightly colored egg balls lol

On Sunday, April 3, we had our first April Cutie Patootie birthday party.  Our new 8 year old and ten friends arrived at the cottage and began to dress in their Divalicious gear.  Sequined hats, brightly colored boas, glamorous sunglasses and bright jewels adorned each guest as they strutted their stuff on the runway.  With microphones in hand, they crooned in tune with the Bieber Meister and other teeny bopper singers.  The birthday girl looked up at me as she filled her candy bag with about 12 large gumballs from her candy bar and said "Who knew turning 8 was soo much fun"?  WE DID!!
